Medical Conference Report of the Jordanian Physicians Association in Germany

The Jordanian Physicians Association in Germany held its annual medical conference in Dortmund on Saturday, September 20, 2025. The event witnessed broad participation from Jordanian doctors working in Germany and Jordan, and was attended by H.E. Mr. Fayez Khoury, the Jordanian Ambassador to Berlin, alongside several distinguished academic and medical figures.

Opening and Introduction

The conference was inaugurated by the Association’s President, Dr. med. Mohammed Abdel-Hadi, who welcomed the participants and highlighted the Association’s key achievements over the past year. He emphasized the Association’s role in supporting young doctors and strengthening scientific cooperation between Jordan and Germany.

Scientific Sessions

The sessions featured rich presentations and lectures, including:

  • Dr. Raafat Al-Natour: Lecture on advancements in robotic surgery in general surgery, tracing the history of the field and its modern technologies that have improved efficiency and reduced complications.

  • Dr. Bassam Ramadan: Review on the use of robotic surgery in urology, highlighting its role in improving patient outcomes and success rates.

  • Prof. Mahmoud Diab: Presentation on cardiac surgeries using 3D technology, explaining how it has revolutionized surgical planning and precision.

  • Dr. Laith Al-Samhouri: Detailed talk on the procedures for recognizing the German medical board in Jordan, outlining opportunities and challenges for doctors wishing to return home.

  • Dr. Iyad Sultan: Lecture on artificial intelligence applications at the King Hussein Cancer Center in Jordan, focusing on successful cases in enhancing diagnosis and treatment planning.

  • Dr. Mohammad Assaf: Comprehensive introduction to the concept and types of artificial intelligence, offering a scientific overview of this fast-evolving field.

  • Dr. Mahmoud Shdeifat: Discussion on technological advances in diabetes monitoring and their implementation in Jordan to improve healthcare quality.

  • H.E. Ambassador Fayez Khoury: Speech on the importance of governmental cooperation with voluntary associations, stressing the need to develop the German-language medical track in Jordanian universities and long-term plans for enhancing scientific exchange between both countries.

The German-Jordanian Association Contribution

The German-Jordanian Association delivered a special address, highlighting its achievements in education, academic, and cultural exchange. It underlined the importance of deepening cooperation with the Jordanian Physicians Association in Germany to create new opportunities for students and young doctors, and to foster sustainable partnerships that serve both societies.

Practical Workshops

Parallel to the scientific sessions, interactive workshops were held with high attendance:

  • Wound suturing workshop supervised by Dr. Fadi Batarseh.

  • Cardiac pacemaker programming workshop delivered by Dr. Malik Lafi.

  • First aid workshop led by Dr. Ahmad Jazi and Dr. Muhannad Al-Taleb.

Special Initiative

Participants were offered a free glucose monitoring sensor (FreeStyle Libre 3) for two weeks, sponsored by the manufacturing company, to practically experience this new technology and its potential in diabetes care.

Social Activities

The conference concluded with an open dialogue among members to discuss future plans, followed by a friendly dinner at Bethlehem Restaurant, fostering an atmosphere of collegiality and exchange of experiences.

Closing Remarks

Dr. Moan Al-Sharman, the conference moderator, closed the event by thanking all speakers and participants for their valuable contributions. He emphasized the human dimension of medicine, urging Jordanian doctors in Germany to remain effective channels of communication between their homeland and the German medical community. He reminded that medicine is a humanitarian mission before being a profession, calling upon doctors to continue working with responsibility and collaboration.
