The German city of Dortmund hosted the second annual conference of the Jordanian Medical Association in Germany on June 1, 2024, with extensive attendance from various German states. The number of attendees exceeded 110 guests, making it the largest conference of Jordanian doctors in Europe held to date.

In his opening speech, the association's president, Dr. Mohammed Abdel-Hadi, thanked the esteemed attendees and praised the conference's organizing committee. Abdel-Hadi highlighted the achievements of the young association just two years after its founding. He also pointed out the association's participation in humanitarian and medical relief campaigns in Gaza, coordinated with several official and specialized entities. His speech concluded by emphasizing the importance of collaborative work and prioritizing the common good over personal considerations. Abdel-Hadi also urged active participation in upcoming fundraising campaigns, which are among the humanitarian goals for which the association was established.

Following the opening speech, the conference activities commenced with an important lecture by Dr. Mohamad Iyad Alzoraiqi on the issue of medical certificate equivalency in Jordan and the various procedures required by the Jordan Medical Council and the Ministry of Health. He also discussed the process of certificate verification through what is known as DataFlow, which received significant interaction from the attendees.

This was followed by a remote video intervention (Zoom) by Dr. Fawzi Al-Hammouri, President of the Private Hospitals Association in Jordan and Chairman of the Board of Directors at Specialty Hospital. He provided a detailed explanation of the available support methods for delivering aid to Gaza, illustrating with photos and videos the donations made by various entities from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and members of the Jordanian Medical Association in Germany. A discussion ensued with colleagues Dr. Mohammad Al-Halabi and Dr. Mohammad Jamous about future ideas for supporting the people of Gaza, especially after their visit there as part of an official medical delegation to closely observe the humanitarian conditions. Dr. Mohammad Abdel-Hadi concluded the session by commending everyone who contributed donations and support, extending special thanks to Dr. Al-Hammouri for his fruitful cooperation with the association.

This was followed by a lecture by Dr. Mahmoud Al-Najjar, who gave an interesting presentation on critical cases in heart diseases, then Dr. Mohammad Al-Toki delivered a distinguished talk on very rare diagnoses in interventional radiology. Subsequently, Professor Eyad Kaabreh presented valuable cases in gastrointestinal diseases and how to manage them. In the field of thoracic surgery, Dr. Moan Abdel Rahim provided important information about prominent cases, followed by Dr. Samer Al-Dmour with a lecture on critical diagnoses in vascular surgery.

A recorded speech by His Excellency Dr. Yousef Al-Bataineh, the Ambassador of the Kingdom in Berlin, was then presented. He thanked the efforts of the Association of Jordanian Doctors in Germany for extending a helping hand and assistance to new colleagues arriving in Germany. He announced that a new agreement has been reached with the German authorities to attract skilled workers from Jordan who do not hold university degrees. His Excellency confirmed the conclusion of the Jordanian-German talks, which culminated in the signing of a protocol to provide support to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for the years 2024-2025 in various areas concerning humanitarian support. He also praised the significant efforts of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan regarding its stance on the brutal aggression on Gaza and its efforts to stop the aggression and allow the entry of aid, highlighting Jordan's pivotal role in delivering aid to our people in Gaza. In conclusion, he affirmed that the Jordanian Embassy in Berlin is a home for all Jordanians in Germany.

Simultaneously, practical workshops were held, including an intubation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation workshop by Dr. Mohannad Al-Taleb, an advanced cardiac resuscitation course by Dr. Ahmad Jazi, and a surgical suturing workshop by Dr. Anas Hijazi and Dr. Omar Khudr. Training models and tools were used for the first time in a simulation style, enhancing the trainees' skills and providing an experience very close to reality. Participants highly praised the courses and expressed their admiration for the level of organization and the limited number of students to ensure maximum individual benefit. The conference was distinguished by its various activities, including lectures and practical workshops in three different halls at the same times.
